UK Plus
Overview:
An experiment in producing hyper-local aggregated content covering more than 300 cities and towns in the UK.
Each landing page features news, events, true stories and travel news pulled in through various RSS data feeds. Users can enhance the local theme by uploading blogs and videos. In spring 2007 a photographic competition was launched to provide local images for the town and county pages; the contest was a phenomenal success - generating 5,500 images, 165,000 votes and was a key driver of traffic to the site.
