Mail Online regains second place in online newspaper web league

New audited figures from ABCe revealed today that Mail Online has regained its position as Britain’s second biggest newspaper website.
It had a record global audience in October of 13,531,174 Unique Visitors who looked at
108,289,340 page impressions.
That’s 16% up on the UV figure for September 2007 (11,689,985) and 94% up on October
2006.
Meanwhile total page impressions are up 15% on September 07 and 159% on October 2006.
MailOnline’s UK only traffic also increased to 3,833,257 UK Unique Visitors in October, the
seventh month in a row that UK traffic has grown.
That’s 24% up on September 2007 (3,089,265) and 161% year on year.
56,221,253 – or 51.9% of the total - MailOnline page impressions were looked at by UK
users.
Overall, MailOnline UK users looked at over NINE million MORE pages than TimesOnline UK
users.
In October MailOnline had an average of 212,182 UK visitors a day (up by 4% from
September 07) and 735,091 Global visitors a day (up by 11% from Sept 07) – or more global
visitors a day than The Telegraph, The Times and the Sun.
The latest ABCe figures confirm other data from leading independent web metric firms which
show that Mail Online is now one of Britain’s market-leading newspaper websites.
According to Hitwise, Mail Online has been the biggest UK newspaper website for the past
three weeks with 18.35% of all UK visits.
Also, according to Hitwise, Mail Online is STILL the only one of the Top Five UK newspaper
websites NOT to use paid-for search to boost traffic.
Meanwhile ComScore figures for October reveal that Mail Online readers spend longer on the
site per day than Telegraph, Times, Guardian, or Sun readers and take longer to look at each
page. They also visit more often every month than users of the Telegraph, Times and Guardian
websites.
Mail Online users also consume OVER TWICE as many pages per month, as visitors to the
Times, Guardian or Telegraph sites.
